Solid Bowl Centrifuge with flocculant addition - SBCsim

1. Select the machine size from the drop-down menu.

2. Manually change SBC dimensions and operational parameters, if needed.

3. Select feed solids parameter from drop down menu. We provide two examples for your reference.

4. Solids density can be approximated using the following formula: [1300 kg/m3 x (1-ash)]+[2500 kg/m3 x ash]

5. Provide the PSD of feed slurry before and after flocculant addition for accurate prediction.

6. PSD can be changed manually from the table; hit the "Display PSD" button if you want to compare PSD with the provided examples.

7. PSD can be also guessed from D50 & D80; select Cumulative Passing and input the appropriate numbers. Hit the "Generate PSD" button to update the PSD in the table.

8. Hit the "Run Simulation" button at the bottom of the page.

  • - Find more details about SBCsim: https://sites.google.com/view/hangilpark/sbcsim
  • - Simulation typically takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on operating conditions.
  • - If the default conditions are maintained, the simulator will directly display saved pre-run results from the database.
  • - Please use the following link for SBC operation without flocculant addition: SolidBowlNoFlocCSIRO.ap-southeast-2.elasticbeanstalk.com
  • - Note that we assume the floc maintains its size when entering the centrifuge, assuming gentle acceleration. This is an oversimplified assumption, as the floc will likely break due to the turbulence experienced during entry
